DOVE CAMPAIGN- EVENT

Six women made national news  when they appeared  on a Times Square  billboard, dressed in their underwear. My event was the speaker Stacy Nadeau from the Dove campaign “Real Women”.  Dove’s mission was to make more women feel beautiful every day widening the stereotypical theme of beauty and by inspiring women to take great care of themselves.  To me, the speaker said everything you would expect from someone who would appear to have been an outcast all their life and then presented with this great opportunity to inspire others. Yes, this was a great experience for her life but I don’t really feel as though she really taught those in attendance anything that we already didn’t know. We already know that we should love the skin we are in and that we shouldn’t try to cur come to the media standards of beauty. I guess the only thing I got out of the event is that she finally came to see herself as beautiful even though her beauty doesn’t meet society standards.

  1. I loved this event, I though it was so inspirational and really opened my eyes to how distorted our idea of beauty is and how important her message is and campaigns like this in general!

  2. I went to this and I absolutely loved it! Her personality was amazing and I loved how she shared personal experiences and related it to the social issues.

Amani Terrell-promoting self esteem she is tired of Holywood's obsession with perfection. She said being fat in Los Angeles is hard and wants to show you don't have to be thin to be beautiful and confident.
