Holi- Color Festival!
In the morning, I was preping for Holi and the whole e-board was in charge of bring 25bins full of warter balloons bags down from the marchetti towers. The e-board consists of 2 boys and 11 girls and throughout the day, I was receiving comments like, "how did the girls do it?" and it made me think about a physical and mental difference in a man and a women. I agree that a women is not as strong as a man, but I hate when people think they are weak and are not able to do any physical activity. The girls probably did more work than the guys, but still are considered to be weak. I agree my body is pain, but the boys were complaining about the pain as well. In addition, I think women tend to have more mental strength than a man and that is equally important while performing a physical activity. I hope people start passing negative comments and also don't consider us weak because when we have to get something done, we get it done.

This is something that really bothers me. As someone who is taller than most guys and is athletic I feel extremely defensive when people imply I'm weak in comparison to men. I think that oftentimes in sports and other activities by telling women this it has the effect of actually causing it to become true.
ReplyDeleteA lot of the physical difference between men and women can be attributed to the self fulfilling prophecy problem in which women are told that they are weak so they do not put as much time into working out as men.
