Birth control

While checking the news as i sometimes do, i saw this post about Obama and Birth control. This made me think about the discussion that we had in class last thursday. We talked about how its a womens decision to take birthcontrol and no mans. It didnt take me a long time to form my opinion on this. I think that women are the only people who can decide this matter, frankly i dont think its fair for a man to have a say. while this might come off wrong, i just cant understand why any men think they have a right to infer that a women is slutty because she is taking birth control? Also, we were talking about men takign birthcontrol. i think this would be really good, i think it would be good to be able to share this responsibility with the opposite sex. as most of us women know, its difficult to remember to take it at the EXACT same time every day.. and it also has negative effects on our bodies. Why should we be the only ones to suffer from this? but on the other hand.. i have to say that i dont think that i could trust a man to take his birthcontrol in order to not get me pregnant. i think its just to big of a risk to lay in the mans hand because at the end of the day a women is the one who is going to get pregnant so i feel like we as women are the most at risk and therfore i think women probably wont trust the men

  1. I completely agree that men should try and refrain from having strong opinions in opposition to abortion, as it is choice that they will never personally be confronted with. It really bothers me when people oppose birth control, because it is used to help women with many medical issues as well. I used to have really bad hormonal migraines, but birth control has made them completely go away.

  2. I could not agree with this more. I think that male birth control is a good idea but males are always going to be less likely to worry about getting a woman pregnant because they don't have to be the one to actually carry the baby the whole 9 months and take care of it afterwards. They can ditch if they want. I also agree that males should never be able to tell a woman if she should or shouldn't take birth control. It is completely our decision as to what we do and just because we are being safe about sex doesn't mean that we are slutty especially since most girls aren't even on it for sex but health reasons such as cramps or acne.

  3. Birth control is not only taken to avoid getting pregnant, but it also helps with hormonal abnormality. I think people need to stop making assumptions that just because someone is on birth control, they have the right to label them as a "slut". A guy has an equal responsibility with pregnancy and if we are being protective than they should too.
