Rape Culture Class Project

For one of my other classes we have to create a message campaign, and my group's topic is rape culture on college campuses. We are specifically doing it about SLU's campus and targeting student's to advocate on their behalf to talk with the administration to create a stricter policy towards those who commit sexual violence. Another part of our campaign is supposed to be about raising awareness about the sexual assault generally as a problem on SLU's campus. It has been interesting while trying to gather information how hard it is and just how secretive SLU is about how large an issue this problem is. When looking at other campuses it is shocking how little support there is for people who have been sexually assaulted and those that are the rapists themselves receive very limited repercussions. The article that I've posted below is an extreme example of the kind of rape culture existing on campuses today.

  1. It is sad that colleges tend to ignore a serious problem like sexual assault and that to the main reason being to save their reputation. I hope we have stricter laws and we are more aware of this situation.
