Atlas Week Event: NAACP Resurrection, Revitalization, Recruitment

I attended this event because I am the President of the Saint Louis County College Division NAACP. They touched on key things that need to happen within our community, things that I was not aware of. Things such as the delmar divide, and gentrification in North County. The event had three guest speakers who spoke about injustice and why we need to get our voice out. Overall, I learned a lot of information that I am excited to share with my branch of the NAACP. Also, I was able to meet a lot of the African American population of our school that I had never seen before. After attending this even, I realize my role in the society that I live in. Not only because I am a woman of color but because I am a youth. Everyone says that "the children are our future," and in order to prove tht, I want to help make a difference. I learned a lot about the history of St. Louis and heard shocking numbers reguarding poverty, violence, and death. We all agreed that the time has come, where a change has to be made. I also was informed abut my rights as a voter, and that is the first step I will make towards making a difference within St. Louis City. The experience was great and I am glad that I was able to attend such an amazing event.
